WHAT WE DO
The SWT Woodfalls Band has a high reputation for providing quality entertainment within the art of brass band music. Our repertoire includes the full spectrum of music from light popular, operatic, orchestral and serious brass band works. The aim of our band is to consistently provide music of the highest quality. The top British brass bands are renowned throughout the world for the standard and quality of their concert performances and the SWT Woodfalls Band is no exception - the benefits for concert promoters is that the reputation and stature of the band always attracts an audience.
As well as performing in its own right, the band welcomes the opportunity to work with other ensembles. The combination of band and choir is a tried and tested concert format which sells well - the band has performed with the Risca Male Voice Choir at several of these. Outdoor picnic concerts are popular these days and in recent years we have performed at several `fireworks' concerts featuring the band with orchestras such as the Performing Arts, The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Bournemouth Sinfonnietta. Some of the eclectic concerts that the band has promoted include working with the folk band, The Yetties; big-band trombone ace, Don Lusher; singing-star, Rosemary Squires and Salvation Army top-band The Enfield Citadel Band.
The band is also keen to put something back into the community and it does this by working with school and county youth bands in educational and training programmes. In addition, since the bands sponsorship, Woodfalls Band has been able to raise funds for Salisbury Cathedral, RAF Benevolent Society, Wessex Cancer Trust, Wessex Heart Beat, Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, Odstock Hospital Radio, Salisbury Mayors Appeal for Breast Cancer, Bristol Oncology Centre, Save the Children, The Childrens Society, Salisbury Round Table and The Marie Curie Cancer Care.
In essence, "what we do is what concert promoters want".
