| Grateful thanks to Ron Bligh for providing information from this date until May 1964 - Ron's contribution to the band was enormous. He played the Flugel, was band secretary for many years and later (with Reg Spreadbury) formed the junior band which went onto become Woodfalls Concert Brass. His brother David was Principal Cornet and his father Arthur played percussionist with the band. | ||||||

| CONDUCTOR - WILLIAM SCHOLES William Scholes was the conductor of the Rushden Temperance Band and
gained seven top six placings with them at the British Open Championships at Belle Vue, Manchester. In 1969 he was awarded the Iles Medal by the Worshipful Company of Musicians for significant contributions to the brass band movement. It is unusual to have two conductors at the same contest but I assured that this was the case. |

| Grateful thanks to David Bligh for providing information from this date until March 1987 - the tenure of David's service to the band! David continues his involvement with the band as a regular guest player! During his service, David played principal cornet on many occasions, especially at many of his later contests, his brother Ron played Flugel and his father Arthur was a percussionist with the band. | ||||||

| CONDUCTOR - BERT SULLIVAN Bert Sullivan was a very well known figure in the brass band world and from the 1920s onwards was considered the finest euphonium player of his generation. He had periods playing with many bands including the famous St. Hildas Colliery and he was for many years the euphonium soloist and bandmaster at Munn & Feltons / G.U.S Footwear Band. Mr.Sullivan conducted Woodfalls at only three contests but had a very good record. He was engaged to conduct the band at the West of England Area Second Section Contest in 1964 where he won 1st prize and this meant that Woodfalls had regained their position in the Championship Section. He conducted Woodfalls at the area contest in 1965 in the Championship Section and was awarded 3rd prize. His final appearance with the band was at the Wessex Association Summer Contest at Beaminster in 1965 and this resulted in another victory. | ||||||
