CONDUCTOR - BERT SULLIVAN   Bert Sullivan was a very well known figure in the brass band world and from the 1920’s onwards was considered the finest euphonium player of his generation. He had periods playing with many bands including the famous St. Hilda’s Colliery and he was for many years the euphonium soloist and bandmaster at Munn & Feltons / G.U.S Footwear Band.  Mr.Sullivan conducted Woodfalls at only three contests but had a very good record.  He was engaged to conduct the band at the West of England Area Second Section Contest in 1964 where he won 1st prize and this meant that Woodfalls had regained their position in the Championship Section. He conducted Woodfalls at the area contest in 1965 in the Championship Section and was awarded 3rd prize. His final appearance with the band was at the Wessex Association Summer Contest at Beaminster in 1965 and this resulted in another victory.
