| Peter
Wise was born into the home of Salvation Army Officers and brass banding was in the blood
from the start. He enlisted in 1953 into The Band of the Royal Horse Guards (The
Blues) as a boy soldier and retired in 1977 as a senior Warrant Officer (Band
Corporal Major) in the amalgamated Blues and Royals Band. During this period he held
the position of Principal Euphonium for 21 years. Still retaining his Salvation Army
connection he played with Chalk Farm 1955-61, Hendon Band 1961-77 where he held the
position of Deputy Bandmaster for 7 years and the Enfield Citadel Band 1977-86 being
Deputy Bandmaster for 8 years until his move to Dorset. He has featured as a Soloist on TV, Radio, Disc and Tape, and
appearing in the Concert Halls all over the World, not only with Brass and Military Bands
but with Symphony Orchestras including the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic,
Philarmonia and many others. In 1982 Peter was appointed Professor of Euphonium to
the Royal Military School of Music Kneller Hall and to the London College of Music.
In 1986 he transferred to Dorset to take Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at
the Army Junior School of Music, Bovington. In September 1988 he was appointed
